Step 3

  • Understand the cost
  • Discuss your shipping options

Step 4

We Begin Compounding

Once you give us your approval, we start preparing your medication.

The sooner we receive your approval, the sooner we begin.

Step 5

Your Medication Is Ready

Typical turnaround is 3–5 business days, depending on demand.

Unlike mass-produced standard prescriptions, compounded medications are prepared for individual patients.

This personalized process takes additional time, reflecting the careful attention given to each formulation.

Compounded vs. Traditional Medications: What’s the Difference?

The biggest difference is how the medication is made, evaluated, and dispensed.

Traditional prescription medications are generally manufactured in standardized batches, with approved formulations, strengths, and labeling suited for the general population.

Compounded medications are prepared by a pharmacy according to a prescription. Their formulation may differ from commercially available options, depending on the patient’s medical needs and the prescriber’s instructions.

Will Insurance Cover It?

Insurance coverage for compounded medications varies widely. For most patients, insurance does not cover compounded medications. We work with a large range of insurance companies, so we are happy to check if you believe they may be covered.

Our pharmacy is committed to maintaining affordable pricing and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for our patients. We always communicate costs clearly before compounding begins, so there are no surprises.

When Will I Be Charged?

If you choose shipping, payment is required before we send your medication. Our team will provide instructions for submitting your payment information and completing the transaction.

If you are picking up your medication, then we will process payment when you pick up at our pharmacy.

You should understand the cost before you give us permission to prepare your medication. If you have any questions, we can discuss the pricing and help clarify your options.

Using Your Compounded Medication Safely

Once your medication arrives, take a few moments to review the label and any instructions provided by our pharmacy.

Use your medication exactly as prescribed and follow the label directions.

Make sure you understand:

  • How much medication to use each time
  • How and when to take or apply it
  • How frequently to use it
  • Any specific instructions provided for your formulation

Do not change your dose, route of administration, or frequency of use on your own.

If the instructions are unclear or seem different from what your prescriber told you, contact your pharmacist or prescriber before using the medication.

Store Your Medication Correctly

Most formulations can be stored in a dry space at room temperature.

Your medication will be clearly marked if it needs to be refrigerated.
Follow the storage instructions on your label and any additional directions provided by the pharmacy.

Keep your medication in its original, properly labeled container whenever appropriate, and store it securely away from children and pets.

Don't Hesitate to Ask Questions

It’s better to ask a question than to guess.

We pride ourselves on being a community pharmacy that offers individualized and personable service to our patients.

We’re here to help you feel informed and confident about your prescription.

Estradiol Patch Shortage

A nationwide shortage of estradiol patches is affecting major pharmacies and may continue for up to 3 years.

Affected brands include:

  • Mylan
  • Teva
  • Climara
  • Vivelle-Dot
  • and others

You don’t need to wait until you run out. Compounding pharmacies are experts at stepping in when drug shortages occur.

We have topical options such as creams or troches, and we work with your doctor to ensure your care stays on track.
