What is Trimix?
Trimix is an erectile dysfunction drug that is injected directly into the penis. It is a combination of three medications: alprostadil, papaverine, and phentolamine. When these three medications are combined, they can be very effective in treating ED. This is especially true for men who have not responded to other treatments such as sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil. Sometimes a fourth ingredient, atropine, is added to the medication to make Quadmix.

How Long Does Trimix Last?
Trimix can last between 30 minutes to one hour after being injected directly into the penis. The duration of the effect may vary depending on the individual and the dose used. Some men may experience longer lasting results, while others may find that the effects wear off more quickly. If an erection last for longer than 4 hours, seek medical attention. Sometimes Sudafed PE over the counter can help, otherwise going to the ER may be necessary.
Factors such as age, overall health, and the presence of underlying medical conditions can also affect how long the medication lasts. No arousal is needed for an erection when using Trimix.

When to Use Trimix
It’s important to note that Trimix is intended for occasional use, not for daily use. Typically, Trimix is used every three days.
Trimix is not for men who have slight ED or only occasionally struggle to develop and maintain an erection. Trimix is for men who have a functional inability to develop an erection. This may be due to:
- Post-prostatectomy
- Cancer treatments
- Traumatic injuries (car accidents, hurt at work)
- Prostate cancer
Trimix Dosage Size
Your doctor will work with you to figure out the best dosage size for the Trimix injection. Your initial dose will be taken with your doctor in order to review the results and make altercations from there. The starting dose is up to your doctor’s discretion but can be anywhere from 15 – 30 units (0.15ml – 0.3ml).
What Size Is the Trimix Needle?
The needle used for injecting Trimix is a 29 gage. It is around half an inch long.
How to Store Trimix
The best way to store Trimix is to keep it in the freezer. Trimix, when frozen, will last longer than when kept at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Before using the medication, you can place it on the counter for a few minutes to thaw. Frozen Trimix will last about 45 days.
